Bodega Collection by Joel Escalona Creative Process
Bodega collection refers to cellar art or better known as chiaroscuro, a technique of extreme contrast of light and shadow used by Caravaggio, one of the most famous Italian painters of all time.
The term chiaroscuro implies a sharp transition from darkness to light, losing nuances and subtle color transitions, resulting in theatrical figures and textures, like this piece.

As every year, the second week of February marked the beginning of Art Week Mexico City, and we participated in the central event of the week: Zⓢonamaco 2020, the most important contemporary art and design fair in Latin America, which received more than 70k visitors this year. Zⓢonamaco has been known for showcasing work by the most prominent art galleries from around the world, and the design section, curated by Cecilia León de la Barra, presented the latest work by the most important designers in the scene.
